4 Players on New Teams Poised to Find the End Zone Week 1

When a proven offensive player or a highly anticipated rookie joins a new team, the team wants them to feel welcome in their new uniform as quickly as possible, and a great way to do that is by helping them find the end zone in Week 1.

This has been evident in both NFL games that have taken place so far.

On opening night, the first touchdown of the NFL season came courtesy of Derrick Henry, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason after spending the last eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans. On the other side of the ball, Kansas City Chiefs first-round pick, Xavier Worthy, found the end zone twice.

The Friday night game in Brazil between the Packers and Eagles saw Eagles newcomer Saquon Barkley find the end zone not once, not twice, but three times.

With that said, here are the four players I think will score a touchdown with their new team in Week 1.

1. Stefon Diggs | Houston Texans

The four-time Pro Bowler joins an extremely crowded receiving corps in Houston, including Tank Dell, Nico Collins, and Dalton Schultz. With this level of competition, Diggs will be seeing fewer targets than in years past, and he probably will not be the WR1 on this team.

Nevertheless, Diggs is still a highly talented and experienced player who will find chemistry with Stroud sooner rather than later. Look for Stroud to show his new teammate love in the red zone on Sunday.

2. Marvin Harrison Jr. | Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. Harrison was arguably the best wide receiver in college football for the past two seasons. In his sophomore and junior year, he combined for 2,474 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns. Standing at 6 '4, 205 lbs, Harrison is already physically built for the NFL, plus he has great genetics, being the son of legendary 8-time Pro Bowl receiver Marvin Harrison Sr.

The wide receiver room in Arizona is pretty thin, except for tight end Trey McBride. Kyler Murray is in need of a true WR1, and Harrison has the talent and attributes to answer the call.

3. Calvin Ridley | Tennessee Titans

After spending a lone season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Calvin Ridley is now a member of the Tennessee Titans. The 29-year-old is coming off the second-best season of his career, finishing last year with 76 receptions, 1,016 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.

Ridley enters a Titans receiving room as the most talented player. Will Levis has a lot to prove under center and will need a safety blanket in the receiving game, which I think Ridley can become as early as Week 1.

4. Keenan Allen | Chicago Bears

After spending the last 11 seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers (the first four seasons were spent in San Diego), Keenan Allen is now a Chicago Bear.

Although Allen turned 32 back in April, that does not seem to be slowing down his game. Last season, Allen eclipsed over 1,000 receiving yards for the sixth time in his career, finishing with 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.

The wide receiver room in Chicago is crowded this season, including DJ Moore and 1st round draft pick Rome Odunze. However, Allen is the most proven, consistent, and experienced player on this offense. Look for the seasoned veteran to connect with Caleb Williams in the end zone on Sunday.
